Frequently Asked Questions

How is this possible?

Like fasteners, all you need is the correct tool to make use of them.
We live in a digital world, where the fasteners are 1's and 0's - spend enough time watching them go by and patterns begin to emerge.
This tool is the product of necessity and observation.

How do i know what i need?

Customers will need a laptop with the appropriate software and an access tool to interface with the elevator.
Customers with a laptop need only buy the tool and the software will make use of it.

I have a laptop already, can i just buy the tool and have the software for download?

The software is not available for download and comes pre-loaded on the laptop.

Whats the lead time on orders?

In-stock equipment ships out the same week it's ordered.
Depending on stock availability, orders may be delayed while new equipment is manufactured.
Generally, we keep several units on hand ready to ship.

Why do i need to recharge my tool? Does the software expire?

Timestamping and date-based auditing are baked into the controller by the OEM and is not something that is possible to separate.
In order to communicate properly with the controller, the access tool must have a valid future date for expiry and as such, must expire to be valid for access.

The software on the laptop will never expire.

I have a few route mechanics, will I need a tool for each mechanic?

Routes take some time to build, and tools should follow the demand.
A laptop and access tool can be shared amongst mechanics, however it's advisable to have more than one tool on hand for issues like after-hours or weekend trouble calls.

One can reside with the regular route mechanic, the other could be taken by the next on-call mechanic and returned the following week for the next person on the call roster.

Whats the warranty on the tool and the laptop?

Each comes with a 1-year warranty.

This warranty covers the laptop and tool for 'manufacturer's defect' failures.
If the hard drive fails, the laptop won't boot or some other issue that prevents use of the tool and was not due to physical damage (which really is out of our control, sorry!) contact us by email and arrange for the equipment to be sent back to us. A replacement will be issued to you upon review of the damage or failure.
If the tool stops working and is not due to physical damage either to it or the USB cable, same follows - contact us by email and arrange for the equipment to be returned. A new one will be issued based on review.

I'm having trouble, do you offer on-call troubleshooting assistance?

With apologies, no on-call troubleshooting assistance is available.
There is a manual and fault index included with purchase of the laptop, which should get you through many issues.
The software package on the laptop allows for adjustment of many features, some that require training from the OEM to know how to use properly; we suggest if the nature of your problem exceeds your level of experience, that you call the OEM for assistance - it is their equipment, after all.
We would not recommend mentioning the access tool when dealing with their support or field staff.

Are you afilliated with Delta Elevator?

No.

Will this tool work on any Delta Elevator controller?

No!
Pay close attention to the branding!
Delta Elevator produced controllers for several companies, each of them listed on a sticker on the MCP.
If you plug the wrong tool into the wrong brand, it will shut down your tool and your elevator - be warned!

I plugged the tool into the wrong brand of Delta Elevator controller!

Breathe, it's going to be ok!
The OEM will need to be called in to un-brick the MCP - tell them you had a friend with an access tool try to give you a hand and it shut the unit down.
Their field staff will charge you a fee to visit the site and return the unit to service.
The tool can be sent back to us and un-bricked for a standard recharge fee - just reach out by email and let us know what happened.
